Your name

How to claim linkz.io/yourname, what names are allowed, and how to change it.

Your name is the part after linkz.io/. It’s what people type, and what your codes point to.

  1. On the sign-up screen, type the name you’d like under Claim your name.
  2. We check it as you type. If it’s free, carry on. If not, try another.
  3. Fill in Business or page name. This is the name shown at the top of your page, and it can be anything.

What’s allowed: lower-case letters, numbers and hyphens, from 3 to 30 characters, not starting or ending with a hyphen. Some names are kept back, such as names that sound like parts of linkz.io itself, or other people’s brands.

Pages don’t have to be for a business. Clubs, bands, makers or just you are all welcome.

Changing your name

You can’t change it yourself yet. Write to hello@linkz.io from the email address on your account, and we’ll move it for you. Your codes keep working: they follow your account, not the name.

If it doesn’t work

  • “That name is not available.” Someone has it, or it’s kept back. Try a variation.
  • “That name is kept for linkz.io.” It’s reserved. Try another.
  • “Names need a few more characters.” Names start at three characters.
