The short version
When you claim a name, we keep what we need to hold it for you and tell you when your page is ready, and nothing else. We don't sell it, we don't share it for anybody's marketing, and we don't use it to make automated decisions about you. This site sets no cookies of its own and runs no advertising trackers.
Who we are
linkz.io is a trading name of Ian Sharpe, a sole trader based in England. Ian is responsible for your personal data (the "controller", in the law's word). Questions about anything on this page go to hello@linkz.io.
What we collect, and why
When you claim a name: the name you chose, your email address, the kind of business you run, your country, when you signed up and when you confirmed. If you're among the first 500 to confirm, we also record your founding member number. We use these to hold the name, send you the confirmation email, keep your founding place and tell you when your page is ready.
How you found us: the page you came from and any campaign tags in the link you followed. We use these, in totals, to see which places bring people to linkz.io.
To keep the form safe: Cloudflare Turnstile checks that the form is sent by a person rather than a script. We also look at the internet address a sign-up comes from, only to stop too many attempts in a short time; we don't keep it with your entry.
When you visit the site: the site is hosted on Cloudflare, which sees the requests any web host sees. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views without cookies and without identifying you. We work out your likely country from your connection to show prices in your currency and to fill in the country on the form; you can change it.
The emails we send
The confirmation email; an email when your page is ready to set up; and, if it comes to it, an email about a change to the waiting list or your founding place. Nothing else unless you ask for it. Every email has a link that takes you off the list straight away.
The lawful bases
Holding your name and sending the emails above: to take the steps you asked for before you open an account with us. Seeing how people found us, and keeping the form safe from abuse: our legitimate interest in running the waiting list well and securely.
Who helps us
Two services process this data on our behalf, each under its own data protection terms: Cloudflare (hosting, the database that holds the list, the spam check and analytics) and Resend (sending the emails). Both are based in, or use servers in, the United States; the transfer is covered by the UK's data bridge with the US or by the standard contractual clauses the law approves.
How we keep it safe
Your details are held in Cloudflare's database, encrypted when stored and when sent. Only Ian can see the list, through a page protected by Cloudflare's own sign-in. If he downloads a copy, it stays on his own password-protected computer and is deleted once used. We never ask for passwords.
How long we keep it
- A name you didn't confirm: 48 hours, then your entry is deleted automatically and the name is free again.
- A confirmed name: until you open your account, when your details move into it, or until you ask us to take you off the list. If you haven't opened your account six months after we invite you to, we delete your entry and release the name. If linkz.io never opens, we delete the whole list.
- Copies kept by our hosting for recovery: overwritten within 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or have it sent to you in a form a machine can read. Write to hello@linkz.io and we'll answer within a month, usually much sooner.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please tell us first and we'll put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Who it's for
The waiting list is for people aged 18 or over signing up for a business, a club or an organisation.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes with it, and if it affects people already on the list, we'll email them. How the waiting list works is in the Terms.
