Your name
How to claim linkz.io/yourname, what names are allowed, and how to change it later.
Every plan (Pro)
Changing your name costs £5. Pro includes one free change a year.
Your name is the part after linkz.io/. It’s what people type, and what your codes point to.
- On the linkz.io home page, type the name you’d like in the box at the top and choose Claim your name.
- We check it as you type. If it’s free, carry on. If not, try another.
- When you first sign in, fill in Business or page name. This is the name shown at the top of your page, and it can be anything.

What’s allowed: lower-case letters, numbers and hyphens, from 3 to 30 characters, not starting or ending with a hyphen. Some names are kept back, such as names that sound like parts of linkz.io itself. Well-known names, such as big brands, can be claimed, but we check them by hand before the page goes live.
Pages don’t have to be for a business. Clubs, bands, makers or just you are all welcome.
Changing your name
- Open Settings and find Change your name.
- Type the new name under New name and choose Check name.
- If it’s free, we show what happens next. Choose Change to linkz.io/yourname, or Pay £5 and change if there’s a charge.
What it costs:
- £5 a change, paid once. Outside the UK it’s $6, €6, C$8, A$9 or NZ$10, depending on your page’s country.
- Pro and Team include one free change a year, once your plan is paid for (not during a free trial). The year runs from your last free change, not from January.
What happens to your old name: it sends people to your new one for twelve months. After that anyone can claim it. If you change again within that time, the name before goes straight away.
Your codes: printed codes follow your page, not your name, so there’s nothing to reprint.
If it doesn’t work
- “That name’s taken.” Someone has it. Try a variation.
- “Sorry, that name isn’t available.” It’s kept back. Try another.
- “That looks like a well-known name, so we check these by hand.” Claim it and we’ll hold it for you while we check, then email you.
- “We’re all grown-ups here...” Our language filter caught it. If we’ve got it wrong, choose Let us know and we’ll look.
- “Names need a few more characters.” Names start at three characters.
